Barrel – Alessandro Volta
Central Energy Hub – 500 kVA / 1 MWh – ISO 10 ft
The Italian flagship energy system for humanitarian, military and critical infrastructure deployments.
Short Description
The Alessandro Volta is the most advanced energy system in the Barrel ecosystem — a containerized power and storage hub engineered for military bases, humanitarian operations, telecom missions, and emergency response. With 500 kVA continuous output and 1 MWh LFP storage, it delivers stable, clean power where grid access is unreliable or absent, enabling critical services to run without interruption.
Engineering overview
The Alessandro Volta is a next‑generation deployable energy hub that unifies high‑efficiency power electronics with large‑scale lithium LFP storage inside an ISO 10‑foot envelope. It integrates a 500 kVA inverter architecture and 1 MWh battery pack with advanced BMS, allowing rapid charge acceptance, low idle losses and seamless transitions under variable loads.
Built for extreme environments, the system operates reliably from −50°C to +50°C thanks to a climate‑controlled chamber, military‑grade filtration and anti‑dust protection. Field hospitals, C3 centers, telecom uplinks, relief bases and industrial remote sites can be powered continuously with grid‑quality output and UPS behavior. Volta connects to solar fields up to 150 kWp and is compatible with generators and grid inputs for hybrid operation, reducing fuel dependency while maintaining mission‑critical resilience.
The containerized form factor is rapidly deployable, scalable and globally transportable. Single units can run as standalone power plants or synchronize as multi‑node microgrids with automatic load sharing, black‑start capability and remote monitoring through the Solar of Things platform. Designed and certified in Italy, the Alessandro Volta sets a new benchmark for container battery systems used in humanitarian, defense and industrial applications worldwide.
